Thomas Percival Elder - Correspondence 1917

Letter of July 3rd, 1917 from Thomas Percival Elder to his brother Albert "Bert" James Elder of Ottawa Ontario. The letter is written on Y.M.C.A. letterhead. Transcription: Dear Bert, Your letters have been coming in including the ones addressed to France which I received all in one bundle. 43 letters were handed me last week all tied up so I had quite a treat. The parcel with the maple sugar arrived O.K. so I think you & your wife. Well my course commences next Monday last 8 weeks then 14 days have then return here for an uncertain period. Ted Logie is in quarantine some one in his hut having contracted measles. He isn't altogether pleased as he cannot get down town. He is quite alright however and a little enforced staying around camp will not hurt him. I saw Murray last Saturday & he is looking better on the grub in spite of his complaints. I told them there they were feeding better than we are here and we had no [?]. Quite the reverse. He is still trying to figure it out. It is always the complaint but what is sufficient for one old [?] such as yours truly is not enough for a recruit. It is time to get out of here but shall write again shortly when the next mail comes in. Your brother, Percy P.S. The cost of living must be higher with you. How about it?
