Thomas Percival Elder - Correspondence 1917

Letter of October 1st, 1917 from Thomas Percival Elder to his brother Albert "Bert" James Elder and sister in law Flossie Winnifred Elder of Ottawa Ontario. Transcription: Benhill Oct 1st 1917 Dear Bert & Flossie Thank you very much for the fudge and maple sugar it was fine. I gave some to Lloyd and McGregor and told Lloyd that you impressed the wish that it would not share the same fate as your parcel did the year before. He said that he was very sorry it did not and also when I showed him the picture he said that he would be as happy himself if he could supply himself in the same manner. As you see we are still here and as far as I can see may be in England for some time yet -the longer the better. Murray has not written me for some time and he has moved to Shoreham. I believe I am going to write him again to-day. The weather here is splendid but the bright moonlight nights gets the wind up the people around London but you could see that by the papers. The Canadian mail has been delayed lately and any letters have been few and far between but I am writing everybody and then I am going to sit back and take a rest. I sent you a little souvenir paper knife last week. The cartridge is German and I picked it up on the Somme near Poiziers the buttons anywhere. Your brother, TP Elder
