Thomas Percival Elder - Correspondence 1918

Letter of May or June 1918 from Thomas Percival Elder to his sister in law Flossie Winnifred Elder of Ottawa Ontario. Transcription: Sunday evening To-day at noon your letter of May 24th arrived so will add some more. That husband of yours seems still to deserve the name or title of 'Professor of odd jobs'. Flossie, please accept my sincere congratulations on your rise to elevated position of having a nephew. How that has increased Bert and you in my estimation it is impossible for one to say, words fail me in fact. I am flabbergasted. On the other hand it only makes one realize my own lowly position but I have now pinned my hopes on the Callins adopting a child if they are stuck at finding one up to the standard it is possible that I might find one over here for them -say a nice Scotch war baby. I haven't mentioned the matter to them but am inclined to as that seems to be the last resort. What is your advice on the matter. Had better quit now. Yours, Percy.
