Lapel Pin - 1939 Pledge of Loyalty
Lapel Pin - 1939 Pledge of Loyalty. These pins were made by Birks jewellers and intended to be worn by individuals during the 1939 Royal visit to Canada. Canadians were meant to sign pledges of loyalty to the crown, which read, "I solemly and reverently declare my belief in Almighty God and reaffirm my allegiance and loyalty to my King and country." The forms were bound into a volume and presented to the King and Queen. The loyalty pledge program was sponsored by the Canadian Corps Association, a veteran's organization founded after the 1934 veteran's reunion in Toronto.
