The Regimental Pipes and Drums were very happy to partner with the British Columbia Pipers' Association and the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association in hosting the Pacific Rim Adult Solo Snare Drumming Championship. This was held at the Seaforth Armoury in the Anderson Room and WO & Sgts Mess on Saturday, 21 February.

This event is one of the premier professional pipe band drumming competitions in North America, and serves as a qualifying event for the World Solo Championships held annually every October in Glasgow, Scotland. The top placed competitors at the Pacific Rim advance automatically to the semi-final round of the World Solo Championships.

The 2026 Pacific Rim featured twelve competitors from across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom, including 12-time world solo champion Steven McWhirter.

In addition to providing the venue, Regimental P&D members acted as competition stewards, provided logistical support and hosting duties, and ensured that an excellent event was had by all competitors, spectators, and adjudicators.

Overall Winners:

  •  1st Place - Steven McWhirter, Falkirk, Scotland

  • 2nd Place - Robert Graham Jr, Everett, WA

  • 3rd Place - Cameron Lawson, Glasgow, Scotland

The Pipes and Drums are looking forward to partnering with the BCPA for two similar Piping events, the Jack Lee Amateur Invitational and Boney Music Memorial Invitational, on 28 March in the Anderson Room.
